Are bikers a dying breed?

According to some of the major financial experts, the motorcycle industry is in trouble. Yawn. Been there, done that, came back from the brink and got in the saddle again. The latest salvo of the death of the biker industry tries to track sales. Bloomberg's graphic shows bike sales were cut by nearly 1/3 between 2008-09. To refresh your memory, that's when the Great Recession body slammed the United States. "Motorcycle sales in the U.S. peaked in 2006 at 716,268 and promptly started to skid. Whe …

A Mysterious, Biker-less, Harley-Davidson Spotted

Stranger things have happened, but this one beats them all. You would almost want to think that with Harley-Davidson trying new things (like the electric bike they announced recently), the following is Harley’s attempt to manufacture self-riding motorcycles. If you are confused, stay with me…. Several cars and even motorcycles spotted this Harley riding on a busy motorway in France without a biker: You can clearly see a Harley-Davidson …

Bikers get law changed

After some bikers in Louisiana got arrested last fall for wearing bandanas, the Creole State legislature took a look at the law and exempted bikers from the law that bans full face coverings. Polaris Industry's decision to shut down the Victory line can yet be reversed. Polaris may restart production in the future. The Victory line can be sold to another compa …

Is This the Motorcycle-Friendly Guardrail of the Future?

Most guardrails alongside roads are deadly for motorcycle riders. With large and a high space from the ground up, bikers that has been ejected from their motorcycle stands a big chance at best of serious injuries when hitting the pylons holding up the crash barrier, or at worst, being decapitated (which apparently happens more regularly than what you might think). The response from many governments is to place a barrier low on the ground preven …

Buell motorcycles may be down for the count this time

When Erik Buell Racing shut down, it left more than a few riders wondering about the company and the fate of the bikes. The most recent auction attempt, held in mid-December, saw no one step up with a bid to buy the company and restart the production lines. Another company, Liquid Asset Partners LLC, offered $1.6 million before the court-ordered auction. Liquid planned to sell off Erik Buell piecemeal. Walworth County Circuit Judge Phillip Koss rejected the offe …
